Upcoming Events at Unity

Lenten services
Lenten services will be given on 3 Wednesdays, Feb. 17 (Ash Wednesday), March 10, and March 24 at 7:00 p.m. - 8:15 p.m. These will include meditation and a healing focus for personal relationships (2/17), sickness (3/10), and violence (3/24). Different types of forgiveness exercises will be used. All are welcome.

Care Packages
During the month of February we will be collecting names for care packages for our Armed Services overseas. If you know someone whose name you would like to submit, please send it to the church office by March 1. There are also forms on the front counter which may be used. The person's exact address must be provided.

Spiritual Social Action
A new Spiritual Social Action project begins in February: once a month sales of homemade bread to support the building of schools in Central Asia. Please see the article in our newsletter which gives full details. The congregation is also being encouraged to read Three Cups of Tea and Stones into Schools by Greg Mortenson, which is the basis for this effort.

Adult Sunday School
People interested in studying basic Unity principles should see Sylvia Barker, the librarian. She will explain the process and give them tapes to listen to.

The I of The Storm

CANCELLATION: Thursday February 25th
The first session of "The I of the Storm" was canceled due to weather.
The class will begin, instead, Thursday, March 4th.

Conflict and interpersonal difficulty are like a storm system that arises when two weather fronts converge. A
hurricane is born. Similarly, competing needs and values create an energetic field of influence that is the storm inherent in interpersonal conflict. The I of the Storm is your wholeness and spiritual essence.

Learn how you can stay connected to this inner calm, clarity and stillness and become more able to engage in
principled action.

Oneness Blessing
Unity is host to the Oneness Blessing, which is a prayerful, silent transmission of spiritual energy through laying on of hands, focusing on universal oneness. The blessing is given twice per month on Sunday evenings at 5:00 p.m. Blessings Givers are Linda Hilliker and Kathy Lewandowski. Please see flyers at the church which will announce specific dates for January. The February dates are February 7 and 28th. The March dates are March 14th and 28th. Love offering.

Sage-ing in Unity: An Introductory Course
A six session class on the paradigm shift to a positive view of the aging process. Based on the book, Age-ing to Sage-ing.  The next four sessions will be Monday afternoons, Feb. 1, 8, 22, and March 1 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Monday class size limited to 14 daytime parking spaces; please consider carpools. Instructor: Tim McGowan, LMSW, Spiritual Director, and Certified Sage-ing Leader Intern. Please see our newsletter and/or the class flyer for further details.

New David Hawkins Study Group
This group will be aligned with and devoted to the teachings of David R. Hawkins, MD, Ph.D. and will serve as a vehicle of Divine Will to support our advancement in consciousness of service to God and humanity. The group will meet every other Monday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., the February dates are, February 8th and 22nd. Since this is a study group, participants will be expected to complete reading assignments in between classes, and members are required to have read at least one of Dr. Hawkins’ books before signing up for this class. Chaplaincy Training
Unity Prayer Chaplains go through an extensive training process which was developed by Unity minister Rev. Lei Lanni Burt. Prayer chaplains hold sacred space for others as they visit homes and hospitals and make monthly wellness calls. At CCU we are offering Chaplaincy training to those who have completed training for our Prayer Team and have gained some experience in the prayer ministry. If you are interested in Chaplaincy or the Prayer Team, please see Jane Faust. The logistics of the Prayer Chaplaincy training will be determined after numbers of people interested have been identified.

A Course in Miracles
with Dijana Winter. Tuesdays 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm. $13/session, $22 couples. This metaphysical thought system is unique in teaching forgiveness as the road to inner peace and the remembrance of the unconditional love of God.

There is Only God: Studies in Nonduality
This group is investigating and discussing teachings and writings from both the traditional major spiritual sources, and the inspiring and transformational offerings of many contemporary nondual teachers. The primary objective of the group is to provide a free and open exchange of spiritual ideas and information in a spirit of fellowship and reverence for the One Divine Nature ever present in all beings. Drum Joy
Our drumming circle meets on the last Saturday of the month, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Some instruments are available for people who do not have their own. Leader: Matt Mantione. For more information please contact Bob Gajewski or the church office. Love Offering.

Youth Education
Weekly classes for school age and nursery age children are offered at the church at 11:00 a.m., during the Sunday Service. These classes teach Unity principles in age-appropriate ways, using prayer, music, stories, Bible study, drama, affirmations and signed English. Youth Ed Director: Marna Rossi. If you would like to assist in a class some time, or demonstrate a skill that you have for the children, please contact Marna or our church office; we welcome new faces to give support to our children’s spiritual growth.

Our Teen Group meets once per month, usually on the third Sunday, at 11:00 a.m. during the Sunday service. This group, led by Jackie McCullough, has been focusing on learning relationship skills. Jackie is a certified mentor by the Option Institute. We welcome new teens to join this group! Please contact Jackie or the church office if you would like more information.
